Squirrels. A new chapter in a well known tail.
What if there was a place where adventures never end?
Jump into Squirrels, the latest chapter in our Scouts story. A place where 4 and 5 year olds can join in the fun for the very first time.
These early years are amazing. Minds are fizzing, energy and curiosity levels are sky high. This is the time to fill little ones’ lives with wow and wonder, to set them climbing the tree – and who knows how far they’ll reach?
At Squirrels, everyone’s a friend – children from all communities, all backgrounds and all genders. We tell stories and play games. Get active and explore the outdoors. Encourage asking ‘why’. Fall down and get back up again. Squirrels laugh and learn new skills, almost without realising – young minds get fed all the best stuff. Squirrels is a special, touch-the-stars kind of place. It’s going to make a difference. The never-ending adventure starts here.
What do Squirrels do?

When and Where?
Sessions are run every Monday (during term time) at 17:30 and finish at 18:30 (unless otherwise stated on OSM) at St. Mary’s School Hall, Glamis Street, PO21 1DJ
The doors to the hall will remain locked until 17:20 to allow time for the leaders to set up for the session, so if you arrive slightly earlier please be prepared to wait outside. Please remember that your child’s safety is your responsibility until they have been registered as being in attendance with the team lead when they arrive.
The meeting starts promptly at 17:30 to allow maximum time for your young people to enjoy the programme as there is so much to do in so little time!
Investitures
Once your young person has been with us for a little while (normally around 6 weeks) and you have finished the Getting Started Process they will then take their Squirrel Scout Promise and become an invested member of the Drey. Parents will be notified of when this will take place and be encouraged to come along and see the ceremony.

Squirrel uniform and badge placement
What do Squirrels wear?
Uniform consists of a red sweatshirt with your badges sewn on and group scarf to represent you come from 2nd Bognor.
Uniform Required for a Normal session
We expect Squirrel to take pride in their uniform as it shows they take pride in being part of the Drey! Uniform is required on a Squirrel night and consists of the following items:
- Squirrel Jumper (Badges sewn on)
- Group Scarf and Woggle
- Group T-Shirt
- Suitable trousers e.g Shorts, Joggers, Leggings (Due to being a highly active section we have a no Jeans and Skirts/Dresses rule)
- Comfortable closed footwear
Why is uniform important?
Wearing a uniform is comfy and practical. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out and helps everyone feel part of the Drey. It also gives you a place to show off all the badges you earn.
Please see badge placement diagram to see wear to sew on all those badges!
